We are expecting another fun yet focused 5-week course teaching kids & teens from 7 to 17 basic on-camera acting techniques in a kid-friendly and pressure-free environment. No previous acting experience is required - only some imagination and a desire to act in Movies and TV! The cost of this 5-Week, 14-Session program is only $595.00 + tax

Located in the heart of Kakaako, {Show Me} halfway between the Victoia Ward and Ala Moana shopping Centers, The Academy of Film & Television is a name you can trust. The Academy will teach your child the On-Camera skills they need to become working actors. Students participate in fun exercises, including improvisations, roll playing, imagination games, mock auditions and on-camera acting, in small classes with lots of individual attention to help instill confidence.

 

Academy students have appeared in films like "50 First Dates", "Pearl Harbor", "Lilo & Stitch", "Tears of the Sun"

and TV shows like ABC's "LOST", NBC's "Hawaii", FOX's "North Shore", "Baywatch", "ER", etc.

 

But we are just as proud of our teachers...

 

 

James McCarthy (Children’s acting teacher) - earned a Masters Degree in Education from Harvard University, with a special emphasis in training individuals for performance. James' innovative approach has earned praise from college presidents, internationally recognized scientists and civic leaders.

James has taught drama to children throughout Oahu under the artist-in residence program for the D.O.E. He has also taught acting to adults and teens for many years. He has significant teaching experience at every level of the educational system. James is currently featured opposite Kiefer Sutherland, in the film "To End All Wars".

 

 

Jeanne Rogers (Director of Youth Education / Children’s acting teacher) – Jeanne trained at the world renowned Neighborhood Playhouse School of the Theatre in New York, under legendary acting teacher, Sanford Meisner.

A professional actress for 30 years, Jeanne performed in leading roles opposite many well-known actors such as Nick Nolte, Don Johnson, Ron Howard, Henry Winkler, Marion Ross, Ted Lange, Michael Learned, Margaret Hamilton and many others.

Jeanne has extensive experience teaching children. Over the years she has taught acting programs at the Honolulu Theatre for Youth, Temple Emanu-El, Marianas Bahai School in Guam and the Free Arts Clinic in Los Angeles, to name a few. Jeanne currently teaches the drama program at the Waldorf High School, in Kahala.


Scott Rogers: (Head Instructor) has coached principle actors, for more than 3000 hours on the sets of national television shows. He has produced, cast and/or directed more than 100 professional productions and written, directed, and produced dozens of TV commercials. He was the full-time, on-set Acting Coach for the Fox TV series North Shore and was also the Acting Coach for the TV show Baywatch,(where he was kept very busy).  Scott was most recently under a three-year contract to 20th Century Fox Studios to coach actors for film and TV.

During the last 20 years, Scott has been hired by actors, studios, and production companies to Coach/Produce/Direct hundreds of working actors including: Corbin Bernsen (L.A. Law), Sharon Lawrence (NYPD Blue), Steve Allen, Jayne Meadows, Catherine Oxenberg, Susan Blakley, Richard Kline, Vincent Gardenia, Charles Grodin, Florence Henderson, Robert Reed, John Astin, Efrem Zimbalist, Jr., Donald O'Connor, Timothy Bottoms, Marion Ross, Lee Meriwether, Tony Bennett & many others.

Scott has directed many live shows around the country including; the Los Angeles Premiere of A PRELUDE TO A KISS; LES LIAISONS DANGEREUES starring Donna Mills; Nanette Fabray in the West Coast Premiere of THE CEMETERY CLUB, and Jayne Meadows in the highly acclaimed production of Neil Simons' LOST IN YONKERS.

Scott is on the Board of Directors for the Hawaii branch of the Screen Actors Guild and is a longtime member of Actors Equity Association and AFTRA.  He also serves as managing director of Kumu Kahua Theatre in Honolulu. He's taught acting to hundreds of actors, in classes all over the world. He has auditioned more than 15,000 actors for various productions. His students appear on TV, Film, & on Broadway, daily.
